Putting Up the Christmas Decorations

We put up our Christmas lights a couple of weeks ago when we had a warm day, but I still don't have any of the indoor decorations up other than the poinsettias I put around the fireplace. Now it's time to put up the tree. I'll do that tomorrow, but in the meantime, here are some Christmas decoration ideas just for the fun of it.

I was amazed at how difficult it was to find Christmas decoration videos with traditional music (or any music, for that matter). At any rate, I hope your holiday is shaping up to be a wonderful one.

Best Wishes,

  1. We generally decorate on the first of December. I like to enjoy it as long as possible. Everything gets taken down on the first of January. Always a sad feeling.

  2. Mary, yes, we take ours down on the first of January, too. That used to be because our real tree needed to be removed, since it was drying out, but these past few years we've gone with an artificial tree and the January 1st date has just become tradition. I love the December 1st to January 1st idea!

  3. I grew up with taking the tree down on Jan 1 and then that's what I did when I got married. However, a few years ago (when the kids were grown), my husband insisted on taking the tree down on Dec 26 instead - even when we had put it up on Dec 16 and Dec 23! This year, as soon as he was no longer using a walker, crutches, or a cane, I put up the Christmas tree and house decorations - the day after the American Thanksgiving - and am I ever glad I did! I just love sitting beside the lit Christmas tree to read a book. (In the olden days I could "curl up" to read said book but, alas, my knees won't allow for that any longer, sniff sniff.)

  4. Oh, I love the thought of reading next to a lit tree! Such a cozy, warm feeling.
