Fun Things for Crafters

I haven't had a lot of time for crafting lately, so I haven't been paying much attention to crafting supplies. I knew that there were now lots of pretty and interesting types of tape available, but I hadn't really explored what was out there. This morning I took a look around, and here are some of my favorites.

Dry Erase Tape - pretty pricey but interesting

Dry Erase magnet strips (this one comes on a roll, so you can cut it to the desired length)

Lots of decorative masking tapes (this is a link to the one below)

Scotch Decorative Tapes with

More packing tape (lots of designs available)

And, of course, all kinds of duct tape

Or this, used here to decorate a gift box

If you're going to make larger items out of duct tape, you'll want to make duct tape fabric (apparently--I haven't tried this yet), so here's a video to show you how to do that:

There are tons of videos that demonstrate various types of duct tape wallets (including bifold, tri-fold, ones with secret pockets and/or a clear pocket), so here's just one of them:

I could have gone on and on. There are so many videos and blog entries on what to do with fun tapes, so this is just a start.

Have you used decorative tape for any crafts?

Have a great day!

  1. It is useful stuff, but I always buy clear. More uses for it. I may just have to indulge in one pretty roll. Maybe to send gifts through the mail.

  2. I didn't even know such things existed, Myrna! Interesting videos but I won't be making any wallets any time soon. I need a change purse in mine, especially since Canadians have loonies and toonies instead of one and two dollar bills nowadays. Pockets work well on a daily basis, but not so much when all dressed up and a wallet is required, LOL.
I use double-sided tape or sometimes a glue stick for my scrapbooking pictures and embellishments, and clear packaging tape and masking tape for parcels. Gray duct tape for other things too....

  3. Mary, I tend to use clear, too. It does the trick, but for Christmas or birthdays, something more decorative might be nice. I might have to try it.

  4. Laney4, good point on the change purse. There are various videos on how to make those, but they all seem to use magnets or Velcro to hold them closed, and I'm not sure that the money wouldn't slip out. I like zippers just to make sure everything is secure.
