Chevy Commercial Guaranteed to Make You Misty-Eyed

This apparently isn't new, since the upload date is back in February, but I hadn't seen it yet (no surprise, since all of my television is local--no cable--and since we pretty much tape everything, so we miss a lot of the commercials). So, apologies if you've seen it already (especially if you've seen it many times).

  1. Nice try, advertising people. There is no comparison between a car and a dog, although I must admit I teared up watching the video. No, I hadn't seen it, as I too record my shows and fast-forward through the commercials. Thank you for sharing it. I can't get enough of the goldens....

  2. Laney4, it's funny that you should say that. Originally, my post had a paragraph at the bottom re: how this might be the most manipulative commercial ever (yes, that's what's advertising is about,but this was a real stretch taking viewers from the impending death of a beloved pet to a car purchase). OTOH, we've seen this kind of move before. I love the dog/horse beer commercials, but they really have nothing to do with the beer itself. I suspect the move is to give people a warm, fuzzy feeling and hope that they remember which company made the warm, fuzzy commercial and somehow link the two. As for me, I like this commercial for its story value, but when I buy a car I need a lot more than a warm, fuzzy feeling (good gas mileage, reliability, good local and affordable service...). So yes, nice try (I suspect that people like you and I are not the target audience--they're looking for people who buy cars impulsively and without doing research), but I still loved the dog.
