What My Writer Friends Are Up To: Part 2 (More Wonderful Books)

Winter and especially February (with Valentine's Day, of course), is a perfect time for reading, and I'm always looking for a good romance to read. Here are some great choices. They're written by a group of talented, multi-published writers (lots of backlist to love if you find a favorite).

Her Sister by Karen Rose Smith is book 7 in her SEARCH FOR LOVE series (contemporary women's fiction with romance and mystery).
Clare's little sister, Lynnie, was abducted twenty-seven years ago.  Now the retired detective who has never been able to let go of the cold case has a lead.  Lynnie could be alive!

Clare's neighbor, Joe, an occasional friend until now, gives her support and...wants more than friendship.

Clare's mom, Amanda, thrown together again with her ex-husband into a crisis discovers forgotten love beneath the regrets.

Clare's sixteen year old daughter, Shara, decides to run from her problems instead of facing them.

A devoted sister, a turmoiled mom and a rebellious daughter find their way back to each other in this contemporary ebook about three generations who discover love can knit their family back together again.

Kathleen Creighton's Angel's Walk has an intriguing title, doesn't it?

Army Corps of Engineers' John Campbell Harris has no choice--to save Bakersfield, California, he has to raise the height of the local dam in record time. This will flood the homes and destroy the dreams of many on the river, including Susannah Day whose beloved family home, Angel's Walk, sits n long-designated lake bottom.

Harris didn't plan to fall in love with an old-fashioned, stubborn, woman-child and then betray her, but who does? As the El NiƱo soaked the ground, and the water rose towards Angel's Walk, Harris made a dangerous choice for redemption. Would it be enough?

Sleepless in Las Vegas, by Colleen Collins, was ranked #1 by the book review site, ME, MY SHELF AND I in 3 categories!

After nearly destroying each other's careers, PI-intern Val LeRoy and seasoned Las Vegas P.I. Drake Morgan are forced to work together. If each had their way, they'd walk, but when threatened by a dangerous criminal who jeopardizes their lives and families, they put aside their differences to solve the case. As the hunt for the truth intensifies and their passion rivals the triple-digit temperature, Val and Drake learn why Las Vegas is the city that never sleeps....

Debra Salonen's Bang! You're Dead, a novella in the Screw Senility series, is free! The series features Judy Banger, and Bang! You're Dead is "a short erotic encounter of the Judy Banger kind."

Think: Ethel Mertz meets 50 Shades of Gray.
Judy Banger is done apologizing for her name, her weight and her sexuality. She is sorry--really sorry--about Buddy Fusco--the dead guy in her bed, but she didn't see that one coming...probably because she was too busy coming to notice the exact moment he kicked in the proverbial bucket. Does that make her a bad person? Or is she simply someone who's played by the rules too damn long and is fed up with where being good has gotten her. She's ready to be bad...or, at least, very naughty.

Lastly, Lilian Darcy has a perfect Valentine's Day book called The Sweetest Thing, a River Bend story.

Tully Morgan hasn’t been back to Marietta for more than a few brief visits since the night of the 1996 senior prom eighteen years ago, when the chance exposure of a long-held family secret sent her running to her uncle in California in shock. She stood up her date Ren Fletcher that night, and she hasn’t seen him since.

Now she’s here for an extended stay, to help take care of her seriously ill mother. It’s an edgy reconciliation, the first time that Tully, Patty and Sugar Morgan have been together since that long ago prom night. Tully has had so much anger toward Sugar… can she ever forgive her?

And Sugar still has one more secret that needs to be dealt with, one that needs Ren Fletcher’s help. Has he forgiven Tully for leaving him in the lurch on prom night? And is there any chance that he and Tully can rekindle what they might once have had, when he’s still tied to someone else?

Available at:  Amazon   For news of the River Bend series, go to MontanaBornbooks or Tule Publishing.

So many choices (I love choices)! May you have a wonderful, wonderful Valentine's Day!

Best Wishes,

Myrna

  4. Lilian, I love the fact that there's so much variety in the covers these days! I think (just guessing) that in this new world of traditional publishing mixed with indie publishing, there's more of a demand, and a lot of artists are entering the arena of cover art whose work might not otherwise have been seen. So much fun!
