Start Your Engines (But Maintain Balance)

After several days away for the holidays, I'm finally getting the wheels to turn again. I'm always caught off-guard by how difficult it is to get back into my routines after some down time, especially because I love my work and I love writing this blog (so it should be easy). I think it's a matter of balance. Move too far in one direction (in this case, inactivity) and soon you're sliding down a hill and struggling to climb back up.

There! Did all of that sound good? I hope so, because (although everything I said is true), I also wanted a good lead-in to this video. Yesterday, I spent some time looking at animated shorts, especially award-winning ones. I've previously posted some that have won or been nominated for Academy awards here and here. Balance (below) also won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short in 1989.

I hadn't seen it before yesterday, but once I started watching, I couldn't stop. It was fascinating and (added bonus) included an intriguing lesson. Nice!

  1. Wow. I was glued to the end (and surprised by the ending).
Welcome back, Myrna, and Happy New Year to all!

  2. Yes, at first I thought it was going to drag (maybe the darker colors)? But it totally held my attention. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hope your holidays were perfect!
