Christmas Lights

I was in Logan Square (a neighborhood in Chicago) last night and saw this house with amazing decorations. I know that no photo can do it justice, and I didn't have a camera with me, but it was such an astounding (and I'm told, an annual) display, that I was sure someone on Flickr would have posted pictures. And yes, they did. So, here it is:

This is, I believe, the same house in 2008

During the daytime (I know these all look different. They're from different years).

Here's a rather shaky video of it from 2011 (warning: there's a bit of language in this video, but it gives you a better idea of how much goes into this display). In a different video, the cameraman said that they begin creating this light show as soon as Halloween is over. I had heard of it but never seen it until we drove past it last night on our way to a restaurant.

I hope you've seen some fun and amazing light shows in our area!

Best Wishes,

Myrna

  1. They are beautiful. My Mother, the very practical woman, is always dismayed at the waste. I can see her point too.

  2. I can see your mother's point, too. It's a dilemma, although the newer LED lights don't waste nearly as much electricity, thank goodness. Someday all Christmas lights will most likely have their own power source. There are already so many solar lights available. I have a number of them.
