Pre-Valentine's Chocolate

I just had oral surgery, so I'm on a soft diet for a few days. Not fun, but I can still have chocolate pudding.

This photo is actually of Grand Marnier Chocolate Mousse (yum!) which I don't have the recipe to, but it looks so good and I love the Valentine's Day red. Sometimes looking is almost as good as eating.

  1. Ahhhh, Myrna. Get well soon! Be glad you still have your own teeth! That is one thing I constantly hope remains true for me, as my mom went without teeth (and various pairs of dentures) for decades. Not a pretty sight, I must say (especially since she smoked).

I've got an appointment on Friday with my dentist, as the side of my back bottom tooth broke off before Christmas. I have been lucky because there's no pain - there's soreness, of course, but no intense pain. I'm hoping that he can build it up again back there, but I have my doubts because there have been so many fillings. Oh well. If it must be pulled down the line, it isn't so bad, as there isn't a corresponding tooth on the other side, it's way far back, and it won't affect my smile, etc. Still, I want to keep every tooth possible for as long as possible....

  2. Elaine, I hope all goes well for you with the tooth! I hear you on trying to keep every tooth as long as possible. I'm religious about flossing, so my gums are usually great, but...I still have to have an implant. The remains of a tooth beneath an old crown had gotten messed up and there wasn't enough tooth to save, so they had to extract it and rebuild some of the bone. Anyway, I'm feeling much better today than yesterday.

Today I'm searching for recipes online, because I'm having a family dinner for my mom's birthday here in 10 days, and as I don't get my sutures out until 3 days later, I'll still be on the "don't eat anything that might mess with your sutures" diet. I'll probably just settle for making lasagna, an old standby. And I can eat birthday cake! Yes!

  3. Hi again!
I have some more meal ideas for you (either alone or in combination), in case you don't want your "old standby": chili, rice, meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, stuffing, barbecued hot dogs (for you) and hamburgers (always a treat in the middle of winter?), spaghetti and meatballs, soup, salads.
    Good luck!
