Book Clutch Purse

I was cruising around yesterday and saw a clutch purse made out of an old book, similar to this one:

Book Purse #2 - Calculus

Or this one by Kate Spade (click link to buy or see other Kate Spade book clutches):

Or this one by Olympia Le Tan (available for purchase here):

But since the Kate Spade bags run $300+ and the Olympia Le Tans more than 1,000 pounds, some people have opted to design their own. A tutorial is available at See Kate Sew . There's also a very pretty one at Runaway DIY with directions in the video below:

These are fabulous. I'm pretty crafty. I reckon I could make one of these. I would have to put aside my feelings about the mutilation of books though.

I know. It would take a bit of nerve to cut into a book, many books end up in the garbage or the recycling bin that I could probably manage to overcome my concerns. This looks like a nice advertisement for books and reading.

I would have to carry the Bible (or War and Peace) in order to fit all my junk into it!

But since there's no strap, you'd have to cart it in a wheelbarrow. (I'm enjoying the image :D).
