A Trip Back to 1957, Disneyland Style

Some clips of Disneyland that have never been seen (via the Disney History Institute).

Frankly, I have no desire to go back to 1957 (think of the inequality so many groups faced), but I do like history, so I found this to be a fun and interesting look at the way things were.

That was neat seeing the way it used to be.

The tea cup ride reminded me of when my son was 3 years old and my daughter was 1 (in 1988). We went to a park an hour or so away with my inlaws. My DH, FIL, and daughter stayed with the stroller, while my MIL, son, and I went in the tea cup. Mom wasn't feeling well on the ride, and the ride operator heard her say she thought she was going to be sick. Well ... that only made him speed it up even more! Honest! I had on a cap that had a visor but nothing on top of my head, so to speak, and that was all I could give her for throwing up. She threw up in it before the ride finished. Thankfully nothing got on my son, sitting between us, and my hat eventually washed out just fine, but if I had had more self-confidence, I would have reamed that operator out. As it was, I had other things to think about instead.

Elaine, how awful! As someone who has always gotten dizzy easily, my sympathy goes out to you and your mil for having to endure that. I had a similar experience when I first started dating my husband. He had a friend who ran the Scrambler ride and since there was no one else on the ride but the two of us (slow night), the "friend" decided to run it in reverse. Somehow I hung on to my dinner, but just barely.
