A Beautiful Cake - Purple Ombre Sprinkles Cake

Recipes (or, in this case, links to recipes) are a rarity here, but this one is worth checking out even if you're totally allergic to kitchens. This Purple Ombre Sprinkles Cake by Steph at raspberri cupcakes: A Sydney Baking Blog is just gorgeous. The fact that she had to invent it as she went along made for interesting reading, too. Take a look. (Note: raspberri cupcakes is a blog that will have you checking out the posts just to look at all the beautiful, mouth-watering bakery. I almost never bake, but after a few minutes here, I wished that I had a bit of baking magic in my soul).

I'm allergic to the kitchen, too, but I just wanted to gaze at this cake for awhile (well, then I wanted to eat it, too. It looks delicious). I am a cake person, but I know a lot of people who aren't.

I'm not into cakes or pies, but I bake a LOT of brownies, tarts, and cookies/squares. I bake almost every week (except this one, because I have/have had the flu). I share with my badminton buddies, neighbours, and customers/friends who drop by, so that mine don't go stale and I don't get so fat eating them. By sharing 1-3 pieces at a time (so they can share with their spouses) with several people each time, we aren't eating as much (as we aren't eating it every time we walk by it at home). The sooner it is gone, the sooner I can bake something different. Lately we have been enjoying "snowballs" (those oatmeat/chocolate balls smothered in coconut). They freeze well but don't seem to make it to the freezer, so I can't make them very often....

Elaine, I'm trying to avoid all of it right now. I definitely have a sweet tooth, but in winter when I'm less active, I have to cut back on things like bakery (you'd think a Chicagoan would be used to the cold and not mind walking in it). Sad but true. Brownies? Yum! Must exercise before I can eat one, though.
